About the company
Avtotehnika Celje is an established company with a long tradition in the automotive industry, offering comprehensive vehicle sales, service, and maintenance. With a highly skilled team and modern technical equipment, it ensures a high level of quality and reliability for its customers.
The company is committed to continuous development and the implementation of modern solutions that improve user experience and operational efficiency. In recent years, it has also been focusing increasingly on sustainable approaches and the energy efficiency of its facilities, following modern trends in responsible and environmentally conscious business practices.
The solution
Avtotehnika Celje upgraded its existing 325 kWp solar power plant with a modular battery energy storage system. The project was carried out in two phases, allowing the company to adjust the system size based on actual operational data and site requirements.
In the first phase two GeoEnergy GE261L battery units were installed, with a total power of 260 kW and a usable capacity of 522 kWh.
Following initial operational experience, the system was expanded with two additional identical units. The final solution comprises four battery units with a total power of 520 kW and a capacity of 1.044 MWh.
The storage system shifts excess solar production to periods of higher consumption, reduces peak loads at the connection point, and allows for charging and discharging to be adjusted based on electricity market price signals. This allows the company to increase the value of its own production and improve the predictability of energy costs.
The system is managed by GridIQ EMS, which integrates real-time data on solar power generation, facility consumption, battery status, grid connection power, and electricity prices. Key data is available to the user at all times in the geogridIQ portal.
The energy system is complemented by 10 electric vehicle charging stations, which can be integrated into the overall management strategy to prevent new uncontrolled peaks.
Focus
An internal comparison between June 2025, when only the solar power plant was operational at the site, and June 2026, when the battery storage system was also active, shows an improved monthly financial result of approximately 2,500 EUR. This effect stems from a combination of increased self-consumption, energy time-shifting, peak shaving, and smart response to price signals.
